Where You Will See It In Cozumel
The most commonly seen moray in Cozumel — coral heads and rubble at Tormentos, Yucab and Chankanaab.
Reliable sites: Tormentos, Yucab, Chankanaab Reef.
Behaviour
Hunts small fish and crustaceans in crevices at night. Frequently seen being serviced by cleaner shrimp, which walk inside the open mouth unharmed.
Commonly Confused With
- Green moray — The green moray is far larger and completely unpatterned.
- Goldentail moray — The goldentail has a yellow-gold tail tip and a coarser, netted pattern.
