Overview

Jungle Runners takes riders off the paved road into the low scrub jungle behind San Miguel and finishes at the Jade Cavern, a freshwater cavern pool on Cozumel itself rather than one of the big mainland cenotes near Tulum. Booking is direct with the operator by phone or WhatsApp.

What The Tour Covers

Riders follow a guide along limestone jungle track to the Jade Cavern, where there is time to swim in cool fresh water under the stalactites, plus a stop for a tequila tasting. Safety helmets and goggles are handed out at the base and expert guides ride with the group. The longer Island Tour + ATV package adds an air-conditioned vehicle, roughly forty minutes of swimming and snorkelling, and a meal at a local restaurant.

Group Size And Vehicles

Single-seat ATVs are $80 and double-seat machines $130, so a couple can share one quad and split the cost. The Island Tour + ATV combination is $125. Drivers need a valid licence; passengers do not.

Good To Know

This is an inland, sea-level ride, so it sits comfortably on a diving day off. Cozumel's jungle track never climbs high enough for the no-fly or no-altitude rule to come into play, unlike a mainland trip that involves a long drive inland. Be clear on what you are getting at the water stop: the Jade Cavern is a modest island cavern, and the deep cave systems divers travel for sit on the mainland, reached by the Playa del Carmen ferry.

Getting There

Hotel and cruise-ship pickups are offered, and the operator states that all transport from your hotel or arrival point is included in the tour price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a driving licence?
Yes. Anyone driving an ATV needs a valid driver licence. Passengers on a double machine do not.
Is pickup included?
Yes. Jungle Runners offers hotel and cruise-ship pickups and states that transport from your hotel or arrival point is included.
How much does it cost?
A single-seat ATV is $80 and a double-seat ATV is $130. The combined Island Tour with ATV is $125.
Is the Jade Cavern a real cenote?
It is a small freshwater cavern on Cozumel with stalactites, not one of the large mainland cenotes. Those are near Playa del Carmen and Tulum and need a ferry crossing.
Can I do this the day after diving?
Yes. The route stays at sea level on the island, so there is no altitude change to worry about.
