Overview

Kondesa is the fine-dining end of the Grupo Marea group, built into a courtyard of mature trees and low lighting on 5a Avenida Sur in Cozumel's Centro. It is a dinner-only room, and it is one of the few places on the island doing genuinely contemporary Mexican cooking rather than the standard tourist repertoire.

What To Expect

Modern Mexican plates with careful presentation, built on regional Mexican ingredients and techniques. Portions are composed rather than enormous, and the cocktail programme is a real part of the experience. Expect a two-hour dinner rather than a quick bite.

Good To Know

Open 5:00pm to 11:00pm, closed Sundays. This is the island's dress-up dinner, so it suits a last-night-of-the-trip meal more than a post-dive refuel. Contact and enquiries go through the Grupo Marea site, and the restaurant is active on Instagram at @kondesacozumel. Cards are accepted.

Getting There

5a Avenida Sur 456, in the Centro grid a few blocks inland and south of the main square. It is an easy walk from anywhere downtown, including the hotels and dive shops along the southern stretch of the malecon and a short taxi from the Marina Fonatur side of town.
