Lobster House: La Cabaña del Pescador Grill

La Cabaña del Pescador, known to most people simply as the Lobster House, is a rustic wooden cabana on the Zona Hotelera Norte road at kilometre 4.5, across from the Westin and next door to the Key Lime Pie Factory. It is family-run and it has been doing one thing for a very long time.

What To Expect

There is effectively a single decision: which lobster tail, and how big. Tails are brought to the table raw, weighed in front of you, then grilled and returned with rice, vegetables, bread and butter. Pricing is by weight, which is why this sits at the top of the island price range. The room is candlelit, low-ceilinged and heavy on nets and driftwood.

Good To Know

Open every night from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, dinner only, no lunch service. Because pricing is per gram it is worth agreeing on the size of your tail at the weigh-in rather than after. It is a small dining room and it fills in high season. This is a special-occasion dinner rather than a casual post-dive meal.

Getting There

Carretera Costera Norte Km 4.5, north of San Miguel. A ten-to-fifteen minute taxi from downtown and close to the north-shore hotels. Ask your driver for the Lobster House rather than the full Spanish name.
