This is Cozumel is a local agency that books licensed island taxis and taxi vans by the block of time, with an English-speaking driver, so you get the union taxi system with the language and planning barrier removed. It is the middle ground between flagging a cab at the rank and hiring a full tour company.

How It Works

You pick a vehicle size and a duration of three, four, five or six hours. Pickup is from your hotel, a cruise pier, the ferry pier or a downtown meeting point, and the driver stays with you for the whole block. The vehicles are the same licensed, air-conditioned taxi sedans and vans that work the island rank, so this is not a grey-market service.

Rates

Per vehicle, not per person. A four-seat sedan is $160 to $215 for three to six hours. A six-seat medium van is $190 to $290. A ten-seat large van is $230 to $330. A 14-seat extra-large van is $280 to $380. The driver and the transport are included; entry fees and food are not.

Good To Know

The larger vans are the ones to book if you are moving dive bags, since a four-seat sedan will not swallow more than one or two kit bags with passengers aboard. Say what you are carrying when you book. The same agency also sells ATV and jungle tours, so it can bundle a driver day with an excursion. Nothing on a Cozumel road itinerary gains altitude, so a driver day is a safe surface interval after diving.
