Deep Exposure Dive Center

Overview & Experience

Deep Exposure Dive Center is a Cozumel dive operation built around what it calls the "3-S" principles. In the shop's own words: "Our goal is to create a scuba diving center in Cozumel that is based on the 3-S principles; Safety, Service and Simplicity." That shows up in how the operation is put together — a full-service shore facility, two purpose-built dive boats, and a training menu running from a first Discover Scuba Diving session through to TDI technical and closed-circuit rebreather instruction.

The centre works across several agencies rather than one. PADI and NAUI recreational programmes, SDI and TDI technical certifications and DAN emergency-care material all appear on its training pages, which is unusual for a Cozumel shop and matters if you want to continue an existing certification path without switching agencies. Crew and instruction are offered in Spanish and English.

Key Features & Services

  • Two dedicated dive boats. Deep Exposure I is a 40' Conquest with a 13'-6" beam and new twin 315 HP turbo diesel engines. Deep Exposure II is a 31' Ocean Master with a 10'-6" beam and twin 225 HP Suzuki outboards.
  • Boats set up for divers. Both carry a private changing area, dry gear storage, an outdoor fresh water shower, a 45° custom-built diver ladder, a DAN O2 kit and a camera table. Deep Exposure I adds covered seating.
  • Recreational trips. One-tank, two-tank and three-tank reef dives, night dives, snorkelling and two-tank mainland cavern tours.
  • Nitrox at 32% and 36%.
  • Technical and CCR training. TDI Intro to Tech, Tech I, Tech II and Tech III, plus CCR Air Diluent, CCR Deco Procedures and combined CCR training, with rebreather rental.
  • Recreational courses. Discover Scuba Diving, PADI Open Water over three or four days, referral certification, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Divemaster and specialties, plus the NAUI Scuba Diver, Advanced, Master Scuba Diver, Rescue and Enriched Air Nitrox tracks.
  • Rental gear — complete sets and individual BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, lights and computers.
  • "Hands Free" valet gear service and hotel pier pick-ups.
  • Shore facilities. Fresh water shower, rinse tanks, camera table and camera rinse, shaded and sun-bathing areas, fresh food and drinks.

Why Deep Exposure Dive Center Stands Apart

Most Cozumel shops are recreational-only. Deep Exposure runs a full technical and rebreather programme alongside its reef diving, and publishes the prerequisites up front — 75+ logged dives for Intro to Tech, 100+ for Tech I, 125+ for Tech II and 150+ for Tech III — so you can tell before booking whether you qualify. The multi-agency approach means a diver part-way through a NAUI or SDI path does not have to start again, and technical instructor Don is named permanent crew rather than a visiting contractor.

The second differentiator is price transparency. Deep Exposure publishes a complete rate card in US dollars covering dive trips, rentals, recreational courses, technical courses and CCR instruction, and states plainly that "These rates do NOT include the Marine Park fee. The fee is subject to change depending on the current exchange rate."

The crew is small and named on the site: Geovani (Captain, Deep Exposure I), Raul (Captain, Deep Exposure II), Roger (DM Instructor), Don (Tech Instructor), Lupita ("The Boss"), Paulina (office staff) and Francisco Ake (sailor).
