Overview & Experience

Eco Divers Cozumel is a small, family-run dive operation based in downtown San Miguel de Cozumel. The shop opened in 1995 and describes itself as the first dive shop in Cozumel to promote ecology diving — a positioning it has kept for three decades. It is a PADI operation, and the team specialises in personalised dive experiences rather than high-volume boat loads.

Dive days follow a simple, consistent rhythm. Divers meet at the downtown shop at 8:30am for a 9:00am departure, board at Caleta marina, dive two reefs, and are normally back by 1:30–2:00pm. Boats are small and fast, which is what makes the far southern reefs realistic on a standard morning trip. Two vessels are named on the operation: Raquelita and Claudia.

The ratio on the water is one bilingual PADI Divemaster to a maximum of four certified divers. Guides work in English and Spanish. Purified water, Coca-Cola and snacks are carried on board, and equipment rental is included in the trip. Snorkellers are welcome to join a dive boat when space allows.

Published Course Prices (USD)

Discover Scuba at the beach is USD 75 including equipment (about three hours). Discover Scuba by boat is USD 100, with a second dive the same day for an extra USD 30. The three-day PADI Open Water Diver course is USD 420 including equipment, academic materials and PADI certification fees, and covers four shallow beach dives plus a two-tank boat trip. The Open Water Referral course is USD 280. Advanced Open Water is USD 320 over roughly three days, with Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation as the two required adventure dives. Rescue Diver is USD 400 across three days, starting from the beach and moving to the boat on days two and three. PADI eLearning saves USD 50 off a course. The Divemaster programme runs about 10 days and 25 dives; materials and PADI fees are not included in that price.
