Overview

La Internacional Cervecería is the island''s long-standing craft beer specialist, tucked upstairs in a white building on the seafront avenue. If you want something other than a Sol or a Modelo after diving, this is the first place to try.

What To Expect

A small, low-key upstairs room and balcony rather than a party bar. The point here is the beer list: a rotating range of Mexican craft brewers alongside imported bottles and cans, which is far broader than anything else in Centro. Staff are used to walking people through what is on. It is a good spot for a slow drink and a view over the Malecón at sunset rather than for dancing or loud music.

Good To Know

Hours are listed as 10:00 to 2:00. It is on the second floor — look for the stairs, as it is easy to walk straight past at street level. Prices are mid range, which is normal for craft beer in Mexico. The bar is directly on the waterfront avenue, a few minutes'' walk north of Punta Langosta and close to most Centro hotels and dive shops.

Getting There

Walk along Avenida Rafael E. Melgar, the seafront road, to number 590 and look for the white building with stairs to the upper floor. From the ferry pier it is a straightforward walk along the Malecón; from the southern hotel zone, any taxi heading into town will drop you on Melgar.
