Cozumel Anglers runs sport fishing charters from Puerto de Abrigo, the marina at the north end of the island. The drop-off close to shore means the blue water is a short run out rather than an hour's steam, which is the reason Cozumel fishes well on a half day.
Billfish, mahi-mahi, tuna and wahoo are the usual targets, and what is running depends heavily on the month — sailfish and marlin have their seasons, and no honest operator promises a specific species on a specific day. Ask what has actually been caught that week when you book.
Fishing is not permitted inside the marine park, so charters work outside those boundaries. If anyone in the group is prone to seasickness, the offshore chop is a different proposition from a sheltered reef dive — take something before you board, not after.
