Taqueria Diaz

Taqueria Diaz sits on Avenida Licenciado Pedro Joaquin Coldwell in the 10 de Abril neighbourhood, on the inland side of San Miguel where most of the island actually eats. It opens in the late afternoon and runs past midnight, which puts it in the small group of Cozumel kitchens still going after a night dive.

What To Order

Beef in adobo and spiced pork are the two fillings people come for, pulled off the grill onto tortillas that are charred to order rather than steamed. Order a few, work through the salsa selection on the counter, and order a few more. The menu extends into tortas and other standards if tacos are not enough.

Good To Know

Open every day from 5:30pm to 1:00am. There is no lunch service. It is a casual street-side operation with counter and table seating, and Spanish is the working language, though pointing works fine. Phone is +52 987 800 9480 if you want to call an order ahead.

Av. Lic. Pedro Joaquin Coldwell 150, in 10 de Abril north-east of the Centro grid. It is a short taxi from the downtown waterfront and close to the road out toward the airport, rather than a walk from the piers.
