Overview

Playa Palancar is at Km 19.5, near the southern end of the paved coast road and directly onshore from the Palancar reef system that most Cozumel divers know by name. It is a low-key, palm-shaded beach club rather than a party venue, and it is about as close as the island gets to a proper Caribbean beach day within reach of the dive boats.

The Beach And Water

Sheltered western coast, so the water is calm, clear and safe for swimming almost every day. The sand is soft and white and shelves gently. Snorkel gear and kayaks are available, and the reef sits offshore rather than at the shoreline, so an in-water snorkel trip is a boat ride rather than a swim.

Day Pass And What's Included

The basic day pass is $25 USD and covers a lounger and umbrella, with food, drinks and activities charged as you go. A VIP all-inclusive package adds unlimited food, open bar, snorkel gear and kayaks, and is capped at eighty guests a day.

Good To Know

Open daily 9:00 to 17:00. It is far enough south that a taxi is the sensible way to arrive unless you have hired a car or scooter for the day. Shade is genuine, from palms and palapas rather than rented umbrellas alone.
