The Money Bar Beach Club

The Money Bar sits at Km 6.5 on the Carretera Costera Sur, on the rocky shelf above the Dzul Ha reef. It is less a resort day-pass operation than a restaurant and deck with a reef underneath it, and for divers and snorkellers it is one of the most useful addresses on the island: a proper reef accessible from the shore, no boat required.

The Beach And Water

This is the calm western coast. Entry is from a ladder and platform over rock rather than a long sandy beach, and the reef starts within metres. Visibility is usually good and the current is mild, but check conditions with the staff before you get in, because the south-flowing current that makes Cozumel drift diving so good does run past here. Gear rental is available on site, though bringing your own mask is more comfortable.

Day Pass And What's Included

There is no resort-style all-inclusive here. You come to eat, drink and use the deck and loungers, so budget for a meal and drinks rather than a fixed pass. Snorkel gear can be rented from the adjacent center.

Good To Know

Reef shoes or fins make the rock entry much easier. The sunset view over the channel from the deck is one of the better ones on the west coast.
