Alamo's Cozumel branch sits at the airport on Boulevard Aeropuerto at Avenida 65 Norte Bis. It is one of the few island desks that publishes after-hours pickup and return arrangements, which is worth knowing if your flight lands outside normal counter times or you have a dawn departure and need to leave the car behind.

Rates depend on car class, season and how far ahead you book. As everywhere in Mexico, the online headline price rarely includes the compulsory third-party liability policy, which is added locally. Ask for the total including all mandatory cover and taxes before you accept the quote.

Insurance And Deposit

Cozumel needs no special vehicle. A small automatic is enough for the ring road, the cross-island highway and the beach-club car parks. Fuel up before the east coast, which has no stations. Rental agreements generally prohibit unpaved roads, and driving on them voids the insurance.
