El Coffee Cozumel, on Calle 3 Sur between Avenida Melgar and Avenida 5, has been a downtown fixture for years and is the budget pick for an early breakfast before a morning dive.

What To Expect

A small air-conditioned café roasting organic coffee on the premises, with pastries baked daily, a deli counter, salads, teas and full breakfast plates. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. It is a working café rather than a scene — people come in, eat well for very little, and get on with the day. Long opening hours mean it also covers a late coffee after dinner.

Good To Know

Open 7:00 to 23:00, seven days a week. Prices are at the budget end. Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, table service, takeout and step-free access. The 7:00 opening leaves comfortable time before an 8:00 or 8:30 boat, and the location one block from Avenida Melgar means you can eat and be on the dock in a few minutes.

Getting There

From the seafront, walk inland on Calle 3 Sur; the café is between Avenida Rafael E. Melgar and Avenida 5 Sur, just south of the main square. It is a short walk from the ferry pier, Punta Langosta and most Centro dive shops.
