Overview

Iberostar Waves Cozumel occupies a jungle-backed beachfront at Carretera Costera Sur Km 17.78, at the far southern end of the hotel road. It is the furthest all-inclusive from San Miguel and the closest to the island''s best-known reefs.

Diving From Here

Dressel Divers runs a PADI certified scuba center on the resort at the same Km 17.785 address, handling courses, gear and daily boat diving without guests leaving the property, and there is a dock leading off the beach. From this end of the island Palancar, Colombia and Punta Sur are minutes away rather than a half-hour steam south, which buys you surface interval instead of transit time.

Rooms And Facilities

Three pools, five restaurants — including two buffets, a smokehouse, the Mexican Las dos Marias and the Japanese La Pagoda — and four bars, with unlimited speciality dinners included. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner plus bar service are part of the all-inclusive plan. Published room rates start from around 476 USD per room per night.

Good To Know

The trade-off is isolation. San Miguel is roughly twenty minutes away by taxi, so eating out or booking an independent dive shop downtown means a fare each way. This is the resort to choose if you intend to dive with the on-site operator and stay put.

Getting There

About twenty minutes by taxi from downtown and the ferry terminal, and further still from Marina Fonatur, which is up near Km 6.
